“Community Of Sant' Egidio... Mandaluyong is for Life... NO JUSTICE WITHOUT LIFE”

In October 2014, Mandaluyong City hosted the 1st Asia Pacific Dialogue on Human Rights and Respect for the Dignity of Life held at EDSA Shangri-la Plaza Hotel, Mandaluyong City.
The theme of the event was “NO JUSTICE WITHOUT LIFE”. The dialogue was organized by the Community of Sant’ Egidio, the Parole and Probation Administration-Department of Justice, in collaboration with the City Government of Mandaluyong. At the closing ceremony held at Greenfield Square, Mandaluyong City, almost a thousand participants from all ages gathered together against death penalty, lighting their candles while singing “Heal the World”.
Since its launch in 2002, the dialogue had been annually held in Italy and it was the first time the organizers chose to spearhead this advocacy in the Asia Pacific region, specifically in Mandaluyong City, Philippines.
