Mandaluyong City Mayor Benhur Abalos poses with fellow awardees of the Communication Excellence in Organizations (CEO EXCEL) Award given by the International Association of Business Communicators-Philippines in fitting ceremonies recently held at the Grand Ballroom Intercontinental Hotel-Makati.

IABC-Philippines acknowledged Mayor Abalos for his transformational governance and for effectively championing utilization of communication strategies in achieving governance goals.

IABC Philippines members include the best private and public communication, marketing and public relations practitioners in the country.

Mandaluyong City Mayor Benhur Abalos receives from the Interior Assistant Secretary Josefina Castilla-Go and Regional Director Ma. Lourdes Agustin the Seal of Good Local Governance and the mock cheque during the recent Monday Morning Program of the city for passing all the criteria set for Good Financial Housekeeping; Social Protection and Disaster Preparedness; Business-friendliness and Competitiveness; Environmental Management; and Peace and Order.

The monetary incentive received by the city government, which comes from the Performance Challenge Fund in the amount of five million pesos, will be used to fund the construction of the Technical-Vocational classrooms.

Also in photo are City Nutrition Action Officer Menchie Abalos, City Councilors and DILG City Director Annie Ruth Quinez.

Mandaluyong City Mayor Benjamin Abalos Jr. receives the Gawad Parangal Award from Vice President Jejomar Binay as he emerged lone winner in the Highly Urbanized Cities category with outstanding service delivery of social welfare and development programs during the Association of Local Social Welfare and Development Officers of the Philippines’ Annual Forum and General Assembly held recently at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia.

Joining them onstage are Makati Mayor Junjun Binay, ALSWDOPI National President Neneth Pador, Mandaluyong Chief Nutrition Action Officer Menchie Abalos and Mandaluyong Social Work and Development Officer In-charge Baby Pillas.

UN Assistant Secretary General Lenni Montiel confers the award in the category Improving the Delivery of Public Services to Mayor Benjamin Abalos Jr. during the United Nations Public Service Awards Ceremony this June 23-26, 2015 in Medellin, Colombia. Mayor Abalos’ brainchild program Project TEACH (Therapy, Education and Assimilation of Children with Handicap) is one of the 22 innovative initiative winners out of 848 entries. Only 18 out of 71 countries were declared winners by the UN Committee of Experts on Public Administration.

Mandaluyong City Mayor Benhur Abalos holds the plaque presented to him by Mr. Rommel Martinez, Representative of Ms. Lotta Sylwander of UNICEF Philippines in Recognition of Mayor Abalos’ countless efforts in promoting the welfare and rights of the Filipino children.

UNICEF also expressed gratitude for the consistent partnership, citing that under the administration of Mayor Abalos, the timely and innovative programs for the children are not just being implemented but also replicated in other parts of the globe.

The Awarding was held during the Monday Morning Program in celebration of Children’s Month.
