City Mayor Benhur Abalos leads the launching of Mandaluyong Ayaw sa Droga, an advocacy and intervention campaign implemented thru BADAC (Barangay anti Drug Abuse Council).

The program pilots at Brgy. Addition Hills and will be implemented in the remaining 26 barangays of the city with the participation of various youth groups, parish communities and senior citizens organization.

Also in attendance are First Lady Menchie Abalos, City Councilors, Barangay Captains and MADAC Head (Mandaluyong Anti Dug Abuse Council) Aida David.

City Mayor Benhur Abalos shows a sample of the ovitrap device distributed to schools and barangay communities in the city during the region-wide synchronized clean-up drive for dengue prevention project of the Department of Health in coordination with the local Schools Division Office.

The campaign is in response to a DOH report of a steady increase in dengue cases from January to June of this year.

The ovitrap device, primarily to target the dengue-carrying mosquito Aedes aegypti, is used to trap and contain insect eggs, stopping the insect's lifecycle in the process.

The construction of the terminal, which is near the Mandaluyong-Makati bridge, aims to decongest traffic and crowding of passengers in that area.

The exhibit, dubbed as Niños de Mandaleños, is led by the City Cultural and Tourism Office to showcase the different images of Sto. Niño, the Catholic’s title of the vested statue of the infant Child Jesus and believed to be miraculous.

More than 150 images are on display until Friday, January 30, 2015.
