City Mayor Benhur Abalos welcomes the beneficiaries of the Special Program for Employment of Students during the city’s Monday morning program. 250 poor but deserving students of the city are now assigned to the different city government offices, barangay health centers and day care centers thru the SPES, the program under the Department of Labor and Employment which aims to encourage students from underprivileged families to earn during summer break for their schooling.

These students, whose application forms were processed by the City Public Employment Service Office, will be given 265 pesos a day as salary, 60% of which is shouldered by the city government. The program is being implemented in the city from May 5 to 30 of this year.

An average of 250 students are being hired annually by the city government thru the SPES.
