Mandaluyong City Mayor Benhur Abalos presents the city’s delegation to the Batang Pinoy 2013 during the recent Morning Program held at the City Hall. The group bagged eleven medals, six of which are gold, in the various Philippine youth games of the competition’s Luzon Qualifying Leg held in Iba, Zambales. The gold medalists, all in Boxing, will advance to the finals to be held in Bacolod City this November.

The Batang Pinoy program is being conducted annually by the Philippine Sports Commission to promote Philippine youth games among 15 years old and below members of different sports associations. Also in photo are former Councilor Noel Bernardo, Mr. & Mrs. Boy Mendoza.

Mandaluyong City Mayor Benjamin C. Abalos, Jr. presents the scholars of the City of Mandaluyong Collegiate Scholars (CMCS) after signing the Memorandum of Agreement with the Rizal Technological University. The CMCS Agreement ensures that qualified students are able to obtain their respective college degrees at partner school, Rizal Technological University. For SY 2013-2014, almost 300 students qualified as scholars after undergoing rigid interviews and examinations of the CMCS office. The CMCS has benefited thousands of students since its implementation in 1996. The city government initiated the construction of the office to further intensify crime investigations of the whole Eastern Police Disctict.

The event was part of the weeklong activities lined up to celebrate the birthday of the mayor.
