Mandaluyong City Mayor Benhur Abalos leads the distribution of livelihood kits to some 23 graduates of bread making program during turn over ceremonies held at the city hall.

Among the beneficiaries is the wife of a pedicab driver from Barangay Vergara/Zaniga Padjak Operators/Drivers Association. Mrs. Cricket Tantoco of Shopwise also donated P30,000 cash in support of the project.

Simultaneously held during the recent activity are free circumcision to benefit some 2,500 males aged 10 and above, free anti-rabies vaccination and gift packs to pregnant mothers conducted at the Hardin ng Pag-Asa and different health centers in Brgy. Addition Hills. Recently, a comparative report from the City Health Department revealed that dengue cases during the first quarter of 2010 compared to this year was down by seven.

Mandaluyong remained the lowest in all of Metro Manila with only 130 dengue cases during the first quarter of this year. Mandaluyong city, also was able to zero out rabies incidents in 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2010. Dog population in Mandaluyong City is currently at 6,807.

In the continuous effort to promote the city’s program against dengue, Mayor Benjamin C. Abalos Jr., together with the city councilors and health officers, turned over the ovi-traps to the barangay officials during the recent Monday Morning Program.

Reported cases of dengue patients have been tremendously reduced with the use of these ovi-traps.

Mandaluyong City Mayor Benjamin C. Abalos Jr. witnessed the actual anti-rabies injection performed by Animal Shelter Officer Incharge Dr. Louie Encarnacion during the recent Monday Morning Program. It is aimed to eradicate rabies by giving free vaccination particularly to dogs and cats in the city. Mandaluyong has been tagged “rabies free city” for the last three consecutive years.

40 graduates of the e-Customer Service Training were presented to Mandaluyong City Mayor Benhur Abalos during the recent Monday Morning Program. These graduates are now hired by different companies in the city. This 4-month training, being held at the Rizal Technological University, is a regular program initiated by Mayor Abalos to uplift employment for city residents.
